Cable rug / tapestry
2018

Cable rugs were originally created as part of a set-up for an event by Milanese fashion brand MSGM and Hercules Universal Magazine at Salone del Mobile 2018. The rugs, functioning as extension cables, were later extended into a small product range and showcased with design galleries in Zürich and New York and also served for Affix Studio’s pop-up design at Dover Street Market Los Angeles.

In 2020 the biggest one of these so far was privately commissioned for a London residence - at a weight of 100kg, 900 metres of black cable is tied together with over 4000 clips to cover a 220cm x 330cm surface, while still transporting current from one end of the room to another.

In 2022 Zuriga comissioned a custom piece for their flagship store in Munich. 700m of rubberised wire normally used in their coffee machines is woven into an electronically conducting wall tapestry. Each connection point is highlighted with a dimmable LED.

Tino
Seubert

is a product design studio in London (UK).

When he first made his now signature wicker and aluminium stools and benches in 2018 for a show at the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield, German-born (1986, Forchheim) Tino Seubert found that they opened up a whole new design philosophy for him. They became the starting point for his future projects, which all revel in the juxtaposition of the organic and the industrial and enjoy the exploration of unconventional contexts. For Seubert, the organic is often a welcoming entry point into his work, with people from different countries drawn in by familiar traditional craft elements, only to be tantalised by the clash with sleek, precise industrial design. As a designer, he thrives off an energetic participation in the processes that go into making his pieces: whether it’s wood and stonework or metal machining, electronics or anodising aluminium by hand, Seubert is always obsessively engaged with the detail of his creations.
